About

Mayada Damer's artistic journey is rooted in a family passionate about crafts and handwork. Inspired by her mother's creative flair, who sewed all her children's clothes with high fashion inspiration from magazines, Mayada's love for handcraft blossomed early. In the 2000s, she opened an atelier in Beirut, working alongside differently-abled individuals to create handmade semi-precious jewelry. Though the atelier closed after the 2006 war, Mayada's creativity never waned. She continued crafting beautiful ornaments, selling them within her community, and sharing her skills through arts and crafts workshops entitled "Mille et une création" for children at CPF where she also filled her role as Head of HR.

Now, Mayada is embracing a new chapter, splitting her time between Beirut and Maryland to start her own artistic practice. With over 30 years of experience as a jewelry designer, specializing in semi-precious stones, Mayada brings a wealth of expertise to her new venture. Two years ago, she reignited her passion for painting, returning to university to specialize in relief painting. Drawing inspiration from sculpture, particularly bas-relief techniques, Mayada's work continues to evolve, reflecting her lifelong dedication to artistic expression. She follows an intuitive, automatic mode of creation, letting colour and material lead her through the process.
